This carving of a
pouncing fox is carved from
black Walnut and it was carved in the beginning of 2013
It was finished in finishing oil then wax.
This carving is about 330 mm long by 165 mm high by 75 mm deep (13 " x 6 1/4 " x 3 inches)
Black Walnut
is a lovely wood to carve it can be hard at times and the grain can
sometimes be difficult to predict especially with the dead knot on the
left shoulder, but it polishes up lovely with a nice grain pattern.

What a lovely piece, it looks so alive and tells a story. I like the inclusion of undergrowth too.
